When Aeromet International – Manufacturers of high mechanical property aluminium castings, Avionic chassis, structural airframe components and other pressure tight structures – decided to carry out a major redecoration of its 62,500 sq ft Worcester factory, speed was of the essence.

What was required

Contractor Bourne Decorators Ltd of Droitwich, Worcestershire who has been working on the project on an ongoing basis, chose to use fast drying speciality paints from the Zinsser range to help it hit the tight timescale required and to minimise disruption to production. “Due to the nature of the industry, previous coatings within the property have not always been able to completely obliterate the existing stains or lingering odours,’ admits Craig Bourne of the contractors. “The walls and ceilings were badly discoloured, and as there are a number of suspended ceilings, this was a challenging job in itself.

The best Zinsser product for the job

• Some areas were completely inaccessible, and without the use of spray-applied Zinsser AllCoat Solvent Based, would not have been able to fulfill the painting requirements over a staggered period of time.” One of the most challenging areas of work is one of the foundries involved using all four Graco spraying machines and over 500 litres of the Zinsser product. “The difference is noticeable immediately,” continues Craig. Zinsser AllCoat Solvent Based Stain Killer is ideal for multi-surface use and features a highhiding formula that blocks dark or inconsistent colours. It blocks most stains, including water, nicotine and fire damage.
• AllCoat Solvent-Based dries to a washable, non-yellowing, dead flat, and it is self-sealing on porous surface. One coat is all that is needed to cover and seal most surfaces, including wood, concrete, plasterboard, Plasticol and galvanized metal, as well as glossy surfaces such as enamel paints, clear finishes and ceramic tiles. No sanding or surface deglossing is required before application .
• AllCoat Solvent Based is virtually odourless, is ideal for large commercial applications and can be used on both walls and ceilings. It flows smoothly and levels evenly, and is touch dry in minutes. It can be recoated in just two hours. AllCoat Solvent Based, which can be spray, roller or brush applied, can be tinted to pastel and mid-tone colours, and is available in 5 and 10 Litre cans.

The results

The work at Aeromat International is an ongoing contract , with Bourne Decorators – a well known, family-run business in the area for a number of years – frequently using the Zinsser paints, including B-I-N® primer sealer and Bulls Eye® 1-2-3, purchased from the Johnstone, Leyland Decorating Centre, Sheriff Street, Worcester, wherever the need arises.
